Maritime intelligence

Turn EU ETS and CII regulation into numbers you can defend.

Real-time compliance and carbon-cost intelligence for Mediterranean fleets of 5–50 vessels. See your exposure before it lands — and the moves that improve a rating.

The problem

A poor rating is now real money and real regulatory risk.

EU ETS puts a direct price on maritime carbon, and CII ratings carry corrective-action obligations that escalate with poor performance. For a mid-market operator, the gap between an E and a D is measurable — yet most are still managing it in spreadsheets.

What it does

Three things, monitored continuously — and tied together.

📊

CII compliance

Attained vs. required Carbon Intensity Indicator per vessel, with a year-end A–E rating projection against MARPOL Annex VI thresholds.

💶

EU ETS exposure

Actual carbon cost to date plus a year-to-date-pace projection, so you see annual liability before it lands.

🛠️

Intervention planning

Model speed reduction, hull cleaning, propeller polishing and weather routing — with their CII point gain and euro impact — to plan your way out of a poor rating.

Product tour

A walk through the five screens.

Fleet overview

Risk first, at a glance.

Four headline metrics — total vessels, vessels needing attention, total ETS exposure, fleet average rating — sit above a sortable inventory. At-risk vessels and aggregate euro exposure are the first things you see.

Vessel overview

Where one ship stands.

Three headline cards — CII rating with urgency cue, attained intensity in gCO₂/dwt·nm against the required threshold, and ETS exposure at current pace — plus a CII Performance Scale that plots the vessel along the A–E band visually.

Voyages

The ground truth behind every number.

Each voyage shows route, distance, average speed, fuel burned, ETS cost and status — filterable by completed, planned or non-EU. Inline editing and CSV import/export keep data entry fast.

Compliance · Intervention Planner

Where reporting becomes action.

Toggle measures and watch the carbon-intensity trajectory respond in real time — actual, projected, optimised and required lines across the year against the A–E zones. See exactly which combination crosses a vessel from E into D, and what it costs to get there.

Profile

The vessel's regulatory identity.

Technical specs, maintenance and efficiency records (hull cleaning, dry dock, EEXI/EEDI verification) and ownership data — completeness flagged, and exportable to PDF for sharing or filing.

Credible by design

Defensible numbers, grounded in the regulation.

  • IMO CII methodology — MEPC.337/338/339(76)
  • EU ETS — Directive 2023/959
  • Voyage scope classification: INTRA-EU / FROM-EU / INTO-EU / NON-EU
  • MARPOL Annex VI A–E rating thresholds
Fathom is a calculation and decision tool, not compliance advice — actionable, defensible, and built to be credible to an operator who knows ships.

FAQ

The questions operators ask first.

Which regulations does Fathom cover?

IMO Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII, per MEPC.337/338/339(76)) and the EU Emissions Trading System (Directive 2023/959), including voyage scope classification across INTRA-EU, FROM-EU, INTO-EU and NON-EU legs.

How does voyage and fuel data get in?

Through the voyage log — inline editing for quick entry and CSV import/export for bulk data. Every CII and ETS figure traces back to those voyages.

Is this compliance advice?

No. Fathom is a calculation and decision tool. It gives you defensible numbers and quantified options; the regulatory decisions remain yours.

Does it replace my class society's reporting?

Fathom is built to complement it — focused on the operational decisions and cost exposure that reporting tools leave out, like which interventions move a vessel between rating bands.

Is FuelEU Maritime supported?

Talk to us about your roadmap needs — we scope adjacent regulation with design-partner fleets.

How is my data handled?

Fleet data is isolated per operator and access-controlled. We are happy to walk your team through the security model during a demo.
